I. Bibliography

A)  Books

Here is a list of books I found helpful or just interesting as I researched Grady's career and the music industry and that period in general.

1. The Handbook of Texas Music
by The Texas State Historical Association

Presents an in-depth look at the history of the Texas music scene and the history of music and the music industry in Texas.

2. Go, Cat, Go - Rockabilly Music and its Makers
    by Craig Morrison

Good general overview of the original period of Rock and Roll music.

3. Rockabilly - A Forty Year Journey
    by Billy Poore

An in-depth look at Rockabilly music with lots of photos.

4. Gene Vincent:  A Companion
    by Derek Henderson

More of a compendium of Gene Vincent's work than a biography, this tome was very helpful in determining which tracks and records of Vincent's that Grady appeared on.  A must-have for any Gene Vincent collector.

5. The Day the World Turned Blue: A Biography of Gene Vincent
    by Britt Hagarty

One of the first mainstream biographies of Gene Vincent, this book is well-researched and thorough in its focus.

6.  Race with the Devil - Gene Vincent's Life in the Fast Lane
     by Susan Van Hecke

Reading at times more like a novel than a biography, this work is very readable and a good look at Vincent's life.

7.  Gene Vincent - There's one in Every Town
     by Mick Farren

Quite a short work, nevertheless this slim volume really channels the feel of Gene Vincent's wildness and frenetic, at times manic life and career.  A must read.

8. Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran - Rock and Roll Revolutionaries
    by John Collis

Good info on Vincent, as well as his friend and fellow rocker--and equally tragic figure--Eddie Cochran.

B)  Websites

A great website maintained by Bob Timmers that chronicles the majority of the figures of the Rockabilly world, including some of the more obscure and lesser-known performers/musicians.

A good history of the Levee Singers as well as info on their current lineup and performances.

3. Spent Brothers' Gene Vincent Page

Derek Henderson's website in support of his book Gene Vincent:  A Companion, with up to date info of interest to collectors and Gene Vincent fans.
